WHAT IS A PARTNER?

What does Active Engagement look like as a Partner:

Partners Engage by:

  • Partners are those actively choosing to join in our shared mission of; “Together inviting all humans to become awake to God.”

  • We say that the partners are the committed and consistent core of our church, those who are choosing to participate in the life of the church through active engagement. Partners are those who shape the culture of our church by living out our shared values in their lives.

FAQs:

  1. What do Partners do? As the committed and consistent core of our church, they actively participate in the life of the church. Partners shape our church through their engagement. Two very practical ways they engage is through attending our twice annual partners meetings, and by participating in the two annual votes. As a staff, we also bring specific communication and initiatives to the partners so that we can hear what they think before going to the rest of the church.

  2. What do Partners vote on? Partners vote to affirm our board-approved annual budget which starts each Oct. And they vote to affirm new members of the Grace Midtown Board.

  3. Are there any requirements for becoming a partner? No, there are not any requirements or prerequisites. If someone has a desire to become a partner they simply have to follow the three-step pathway. We only ask that our partners faithfully engage in the life of the church through the ways we have suggested above.

  4. Why call them Partners and not Members: Words matter, and we see that the word “partner” more accurately represents the biblical understanding of how to be a local church together. You can be a member of a gym or club, but you are a partner in the Kingdom of God. The idea of “partner” also speaks to the staff’s desire to have a reciprocal relationship with the partners. It is not about what we can get from each other but how we can partner in what God is doing in and through our church together.
